EXAM STRUCTURE
The Enrolled Agent exam comprises three parts, providing flexibility in the order of examination
High school graduates (12th qualified students) are eligible to enroll for classes. However, to sit for the exam, a bachelor’s degree from any recognized university is necessary. Additionally, two years of professional experience in management accounting or financial management are mandatory for certification.
Focuses on taxation requirements for various business entities, including deductions, credits, and compliance.
Explores the legal procedures post-EA designation, including client representation before the IRS.

How do you become an enrolled agent?
1. Obtain a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN)
2. Apply to take the Special Enrolment Examination (SEE)
3. Achieve passing scores on all 3 parts of the SEE
4. Apply for enrolment
5. Pass a suitability check, which will include tax compliance to ensure that you have filed all necessary tax returns and there are no outstanding tax liabilities; and criminal background
How many questions are on each part of the examination?
Each part of the SEE contains 100 questions.
What is the time limit for each part of the examination?
Each part is 3.5 hours long. The actual seat time is 4 hours to allow for a tutorial, survey, and one scheduled 15-minute break.
Do you have to take each part of the examination in order (Part 1 first; then Part 2; then Part 3)?
No, examinations can be taken in any order.
How many times within a testing window can you take each part?
Each exam part may be taken 4 times per testing window, which runs from May 1 to the end of February.
Is the examination offered year-round?
The test is offered from May 1 to the end of February of the following year. The test is not offered during the annual blackout period in March and April. During this time the test is updated with the most recent tax law.
What is the salary of an Enrolled agent?
• Cleared 1 part: Rs. 3.5-6 lakh per annum
• 1 part and 1 year experience: Rs. 7.5 lakh per annum
• 3 parts and 1 year experience: Rs. 12 lakh per annum
